The move is mainly intended to cater to a growing gentry of music lovers in Riyadh and other cities that have a large number of crowded shops selling music and film cassettes as well as CDs.
The new band, according to an organizer, is led by a group of well-known singers like Abhi Palakkad, Mansour Kozhikode, Nirmal Trissur, Nissam Trivandrum, Seema Madhu and Lubna Basheer. The formal launch of the logo and the inauguration of the band were officiated by M. Hafsa, a faculty member of the Middle East International School, Najeem Rawther, managing director of Sahaa Al Riyadh Clinic, and S.P Shanavas, MD of Gulfex Group.
The colorful event was part of the Texa family meet held at Nofa Auditorium here recently. The event was attended by a large number of community stalwarts and leaders including Shanavas S.P, Najeeb Rawther, Noushad Nannattukavu, Nizar Kallara and Hashim Kunjatta. "The new band, which will focus mainly on Indian and Arab music, also aims to place existing Indian talent alongside acclaimed artists locally and internationally," said the organizer.
He pointed out music connects everyone universally and hence the group decided to offer music services. Saudi Arabia is also a land of music lovers, said the organizer. He pointed out the music of the Kingdom includes both Western and traditional.
The most distinguished musician in recent Saudi history is Tariq Abdulhakeem, who composed hundreds of Arabic songs. Saraj Omar, another great master, is credited with composing the music for the Saudi national anthem. Mohamed Abdo is considered the first Saudi Arabian pop star.
