The Minster of Higher Education Khaled Al-Anqari said that the Kingdom’s participation is typical of the role and position the country enjoys in the Arab region, in the Islamic world and internationally.
He added that it also helps fulfill Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah’s vision toward supporting cultural, religious and civilized dialogue.
Kingdom will provide a display with local flavors on an area of 490 square meters divided into two sections. The first section is an interior display of over 1,000 Saudi books, paintings, Arabic calligraphy, a children’s library and replicas of the two holy mosques.
The second section is an outdoor tent where visitors will be served with dates and Arabic coffee and will also be introduced to the local cloths and handmade materials.
A number of books on local culture have been translated into English and Czech.
Saudi attendees will also participate in a seminar on orientalism, orientalists and their role in studying Islamic civilization, another seminar on the differences between Saudi and Czech cultures and a third lecture on the development of literature in the Kingdom and the Czech Republic.
Other briefings will be dedicated to King Abdullah’s role in international dialogue and the development of higher education in Saudi Arabia and the Czech Republic.
The ministry also issued a magazine called “Riyadh, Prague,” available in three languages, including Arabic, English and Czech. A website for the event has also been launched.
