This year, King Khaled Foundation and the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA) honored those companies that had contributed to the wellbeing of society. IMC ranked third among 115 companies from different sectors in the Kingdom.
IMC was chosen for this award in recognition of its efforts in developing and promoting sustainability and social responsibility programs in the health care sector and for being the first institution in the Kingdom to join the United Nations Global Compact.
In addition, IMC issued this year its first corporate responsibility report, which was graded by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) as a level A report, making IMC the first and only health care institution in the world to receive this rank.
Dr. Walid Fitaihi, chairman of the board of directors and CEO, received the awards on behalf of IMC at a ceremony in Riyadh Tuesday evening.
“Our definition of corporate responsibility is different from many other institutions. We believe that responsibility is a feeling that every single staff member should apply in his or her daily life and is not limited to one department,” he said.
“We are responsible in front of God first, and then in front of our society to serve our mission of life.”
IMC’s corporate responsibility report rotated around five aspects in a comprehensive program.
One of the center’s initiatives was to launch an open lifesaver course free of charge to the public. It helped educate 3,000 people on how to save lives during emergencies.
