“Those who master nanotechnology will dominate the economic world in the 21st century,” the prince said, stressing the Kingdom’s efforts to achieve excellence in nanotechnology in order to boost social and economic development.
He praised King Saud University (KSU) for its tremendous efforts to keep pace with modern science and technology.
He described nanotechnology as a “scientific revolution” in modern times. He also noted the university’s strategy to promote research in nanotechnology.
Prince Muqrin thanked Muhammad bin Hussein Al-Amoudi, a prominent Saudi businessman, for donating the cost of building the institute and urged other businessmen to finance such educational projects.
KSU President Abdullah Al-Othman thanked Prince Muqrin for laying the foundation for the institute. He said the university has now more than 100 research chairs, financed by individuals and institutions. It also has a SR3 billion endowment fund to finance educational projects.
