Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah is giving utmost concern to the two holy mosques by implementing development projects, including the cooling and shading of worshippers.
The king is also deeply appreciated for expanding the Masaa (between Safa and Marwah) and also for constructing a network of pedestrian paths on all levels of the Jamrat Bridge to ease congestion and make the stoning of Satan ritual an easy task. Taking into account the heat in Makkah and Madinah and the increasing number of visitors and pilgrims, the king ordered that the Grand Mosque should be entirely air-conditioned. However, the magnitude of this project has not made this possible yet for the eastern, northern and southern parts of the mosque. This has caused many people to suffer heat exhaustion. It is true that the project is big, but because of its importance we urge contractors to expedite the air-cooling project according to royal instructions.
Similarly, a royal decree was issued three years ago to install a giant clock on one of the towers of King Abdul Aziz endowments in Makkah, but nothing has so far been done in this regard. Though all Arab and international TV stations were talking about this clock, it is still in the womb of the unknown!!
On this occasion, I would also like to appeal to the President of the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques Sheikh Saleh Al-Hussain to give more attention to the behavior of female guides in the Grand Mosque, either by giving them more training or watching them very closely to expel those who misbehave themselves. Their guidance to the women worshippers in the Haram is inappropriate, to say the least. I have seen with my own eyes their methods, which are not only repulsive but they also defame the country and its people who are keen to provide comfort and safety to pilgrims and visitors.
The Presidency of the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques should chose women for these jobs very carefully and should provide them with training. The presidency should also observe them very closely to dispel anyone who is harsh with the worshippers.
