RIYADH: Including human rights material in university curriculums is being studied, Bandar Al-Iban, president of the governmental Human Rights Commission, said during a recent visit to King Khaled University in Abha.
Meeting with Saad Rafaa, deputy director of the university, the HRC president pointed out the importance of the role of universities in spreading the culture of human rights through carrying out studies and research.
Rafaa welcomed the visit of the HRC president and delegation to Asir confirming the university’s steps to build bridges with the HRC.
The HRC president also toured a local center for juvenile delinquents in Abha city where he met with the 75 residents of the center, held individual conversations with each one separately and took notes of their requests and observations. The president attended a luncheon with the residents where he advised them to make use of their time at the center to come to terms with their mistakes and to pursue education.
The HRC president visited Asir Central Hospital and met with Asir area health officials where he was introduced to the medical services the hospital is offering, the obstacles it is facing and the necessities the area needs in the health sector.
