Sidelights: Dog digs up grave, makes off with leg

QATIF: A dog in this eastern Saudi city drew public attention to the Qatif Municipality’s failure to appoint a guard for the city’s graveyard. The canine dug up a grave and made off with a limb, the Al-Riyadh daily reported yesterday. The dog dug up the grave of a man who had been buried the previous day and carried off his leg and then dropped it in front of the cemetery’s gate in full public view. The unsavory presence of the severed limb became the talk of the town and people blamed the municipality for not appointing a guard. Several citizens have lodged a formal complaint and urged the municipality to appoint a guard in order to avoid a recurrence.
