JEDDAH — A suspect in the murder of a Filipino seamstress was arrested yesterday shortly after allegedly stabbing the victim to death, setting the house on fire and fleeing the crime scene.
Alkhobar-based Labor Attache David Des Dicang said the incident happened in Hofuf’s Al Hasa district.
The suspect was identified as Eric Quizon, a plumber and welder with Rezayat Company Limited in that region.
The victim was identified as Maria Jacobo, 49, a seamstress and a native of Isabela. Her body was burned beyond recognition.
The murder suspect was reportedly rushed to the King Fahd Hospital Hofuf from jail after an apparent suicide attempt.
Asked by the hospital nurses why he attempted to commit suicide, Quizon replied in Filipino, “I had killed somebody.”
“She was going to kill me so I had to kill her,” Quizon said, referring to the victim, Maria Jacobo.
Quizon bore abrasions and contusions, signs that a struggle and a fight had taken place, witnesses at the hospital said.
Earlier, Nestor Infante, a co-worker, said that Quizon immediately confessed to the crime after being cornered by police authorities.
“His hands and shirt was still stained with blood and he was acting as if he was looking for something when police arrived to arrest him,” Infante said.
