RIYADH, 2 July 2007 — Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, chairman of Kingdom Holding Company (KHC), is featured in Time Magazine’s List of the World’s 100 Most Influential People.
Quoting Time magazine, KHC said in a statement yesterday that Alwaleed is included in the “Power Givers” category for “blending generosity with thoughtful activism to make contributions that count.”
The magazine also said that the prince “helped raise the profile of Islamic history and culture around the world.”
As an avid supporter of peace all over the world, Alwaleed had donated $20 million to Georgetown University to support and expand its Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding.
He said “we are determined to build a bridge between Islam and Christianity for tolerance that transcends cultural and geographical boundaries.”
He also donated $20 million to Harvard University to create the university-wide Islamic Studies Program.
Alwaleed also contributed $20 million to the Louvre Museum to establish an Islamic arts section and $19 million for South-Asia tsunami victims.
