RIYADH, 4 January 2006 — The national team committee announced the dates of the friendly tournament starting from Jan. 21. The tournament will take place in Riyadh at the King Fahd International Stadium. South Korea and Greece will open the friendly tournament at 4:40 p.m. Saudi Arabia will play the next match at 8 p.m. against Finland. On Jan. 25, Korea will face Finland and Saudi Arabia will play against Greece in the second match.
Hilal Trounce Ittifaq in Volleyball League
RIYADH, 4 January 2006 — In the Saudi Volleyball League, Al-Hilal won easily against Al-Ittifaq of Dammam 3-0. This match was practice for Hilal, which will participate in the Gulf Championship in Kuwait in March. Hilal has taken the lead following their victory over Ittifaq.
Al-Muharraq’s Abbas Courted by Ahli Club
JEDDAH, 4 January 2006 — The volleyball team of Ahli Club of Jeddah has petitioned for the services of Fadel Abbas, the Al-Muharraq player, to play in the Arab Championship, which will take place in Syria. The player accepted the offer pending salary negotiations.
Wehda to Recruit Four Egypt Stars
MAKKAH, 4 January 2006 — The Al-Wehda club is currently negotiating with the Egyptian club Al-Zamalek to recruit four players to play in the semifinals of the Crown Prince Cup for the remainder of the football season. Meanwhile, the Wehda club will start a training camp in Taif in preparation for the semifinals.
