JEDDAH, 9 October 2005 — An information cell has been set up at the premises of the Consulate General of Pakistan, Jeddah, to keep people up to date about the effects of the devastating earthquake that struck Pakistan yesterday, said Consul General Masood Akhtar. Consul Welfare Dr. Shoaib Akbar will be in-charge of the cell.
“Those who have lost their loved ones in this disaster and want to go to Pakistan can contact the consulate. “In this context, the consulate is in touch with PIA and Saudi Arabian Airlines to provide them seats,” he said. He appealed to the Pakistani community and the Saudi philanthropists to help those in need in this difficult hour. Consulate will receive cash donations and will issue receipts, he said.
