JEDDAH, 8 June 2004 — Forty-eight students celebrated their graduation from Dar Al-Hekma College for girls Sunday evening. The ceremony took place under the patronage of Princess Al-Jowhara bint Ibrahim Al-Ibrahim, the wife of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd.
Students shared the ceremony, which highlighted the achievements of the girls on the brink of a bright future, with family and friends. The second batch of graduates from Dar Al-Hekma, which was established in 1999, graduates are from the departments of management information systems, interior design, and special education. Other bachelor degrees offered at the college are graphic design and nursing. There are some 500 students enrolled in the college.
Dr. Ibtisam Fakahani, the dean of Dar Al-Hekma, said in a bid to consolidate its academic excellence the college signed an academic cooperation agreement with the TIIC federation, which includes 32 American colleges and has experience in establishing educational programs and projects in 17 countries.
“The academic program of the college aims to prepare students with a high level of scientific qualifications,” allowing them to “work in the fields suitable for their skills and knowledge in an Islamic culture,” she said. Among other future plans, the college is preparing to open new majors including law, journalism and the media, and furniture design.
