Blue Blood Pin Rare Defeat on Leaders D’Marvelous

RIYADH, 30 April 2004 — Blue Blood pinned a rare defeat on league leaders D'Marvelous behind a rock-solid performance on the 16th week of the NAK Park USA Sunday Night Bowling League 8th Conference at the Riyadh Bowling Club lanes here.

Blue Blood tallied 24 points and total pinfalls of 4,118 and they spiked the win by sweeping the team and individual honors. D'Marvelous compiled 15 points and total pinfalls of 3,936.

Unlimited VI followed their impressive 20-9 conquest of Blue Blood the week before with a solid 20-14 triumph over Schneider Electric on total pinfalls of 4,069 to 3,850.

Okey Lang, stunned Al Mishari Pinbuster 16-10 (3,742-3,730) in a battle of bottom teams, while Saudi Tornado crushed Jadawel Bowling Club 22-12 (4,052-3,810) and D'Invaders won by default over HTG-Margie 22-0 in the other matches in the five-man team league event sponsored by NAK Park USA. Benjie Macatuno doubled Blue Blood's celebration when he emerged Bowler of the Week after shooting the high series of 905. Jess Frias and Nestor Ranido played support roles to the hilt with 866 and 829 respectively, while Frank Ranera added 892, skipper Shakur Kamlian 542 and Reny Dimapilis 184 for Blue Blood, which rolled games of 1,010, 1,021, 1,022 and 1,065.

In scoring the rare win, Okey Lang drew a remarkable 825 from Lito Briones, 768 from William Ybay, 758 from Leo Laudencia, 742 from Ming Barnachea and 649 from Edwin Pecson. A pair of 840s from Pido Villarosa and Ely Fanugao anchored Unlimited VI's performance, while the team received contributions of 801 from Mel Ancheta, 640 from Saud Egil, 580 from Rod Tagaban and 368 from Ding Balagtas.

The week's other notable scorers include Saudi Tornado's Hassa Al-Sheikh and Feras Al-Hattani with 861 and 847, Mishari's Jett Cabana with 841 and Resty de Jesus of Schneider Electric with 829.
