RIYADH, 16 April 2004 — Top Gun finally ended their search for Team of the Week honors with a decisive victory over ABV RG during the 10th session of the United Electronics Co. (EXTRA) Tuesday Night Bowling League 4th Conference at the Riyadh Bowling Club lanes here.
As the tournament heavyweights apparently slowed down, Top Gun cashed in on the opportunity and carded the top figures of 23 points and total pinfalls of 3,292 against a well beaten ABV RG squad which returned 14 points and total pinfalls of 3,079.
The week was not without thrilling moments when runaway leader RBC Patriots narrowly survived underdog Snap Shots 4 17-16 (3,116-3,122) and Blue Blood and Xtreme OPS battled to a 16-16 standoff on total pinfalls of 3,113 and 3,040.
Ara Bowlers recovered from the disappointment of losing the honors the previous week to the Patriots when they crushed KIA’s Pride 21-12 (3,120-3,045), while Untouch-A-Bowl beat Starstrucks 18-15 (3,129-3,011) in the other matches in the four-man team league event sponsored by United Electronics Co. through assistant marketing manager Ammar Issa.
The unmatched team to see in action, Triple “R”, compiled 17 points and total pinfalls of 2,967.
August Yema of ABV RG won the individual race for Bowler of the Week after he carded the high series of 908 on lines of 173, 237, 185, 201 and 112 handicap.
Jett Cabana proved the steadiest Top Gun on the lanes, putting together the second best series of 887 on games of 214, 278, 210, 162 and 32 handicap.
Angel Pantoja made a valuable contribution of 820 for Top Gun, while teammates Pido Villarosa, Tony Tapayan and Rod Basilio added 765, 596 and 224 in that order. Rod Tagaban spearheaded Ara’s attack with 810 to go with the 792 by Saud Egil, 775 by Cas Encila and 743 by Freddie Aquino.
Fernie Ballano was the top man for Untouch-A-Bowl at 860, the same series posted by Snap Shots 4’s Toto Ganza.
Blue Blood’s Reny Dimapilis, RBC’s Mar Viloria and Triple “R”’s Gary Climaco were the other notable scorers of the week with 849, 831 and 821 in that order.
