JEDDAH – Al-Ittihad continued from where they had left off with a 3-0 rout of Al-Riyadh as action resumed in the King Fahd Cup Soccer Tournament at the Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Stadium here on Thursday. The feature of the match was a hat trick by Marzook Al-Otaiby who slotted in his treble in the 16th, 42nd and 72nd minutes.
With this win, Ittihad strengthened their position at the top taking their tally to 35 points while Riyadh remain in 10th position with 13 points.
In the Riyadh derby between Al-Hilal and Al-Nasr, the latter put a dent in Hilal’s efforts to stop Nasr’s run with a 2-1 victory. In an exciting encounter, Nasr scored first in the 31st minute when Ibraheem Mater received a nice cross from Bandar Tamem following a swift and organized counter attack. Mater, left clear, used the space and angle to score.
An energetic Hilal secured their equalizer in the 47th minute with Siseeh showing fine opportunism to score. He met on the rise a nice center from Nawaf Al-Temyat, but found the bar with a sizzling header. Bur before Nasr could regroup, Siseeh struck true.
But Nasr were not to be denied on this day. In the 72nd minute, a fine solo effort from Abdulrahman Al-Bishi, who cut through Hilal defenders, ended in a super winner. He on-the-run strike hit the far right corner of the goal. Nasr are second with 29 points while Hilal remain in 3rd position with 21 points.
In the early match of that day, Al-Ahli drew with Al-Taie in Hail 0-0. Ahli moves to 7th position with 17 points while Taie stay in 4th position with 20 points.
