RIYADH, 19 August — Dr. Saleh ibn Suleiman Al-Wohaibi was appointed yesterday as the new secretary-general of the Riyadh-based World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY). The appointment comes following the death of Dr. Maneh Al-Johani, former secretary-general, in a car accident earlier this month. Wohaibi has been serving as assistant secretary-general since 1419H and as a member of WAMY’s board of trustees since 1406H. He is a well-known preacher and charitable worker. Wohaibi, who obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Indiana, also works as an associate professor at King Saud University. Wohaibi recently met with Prince Abdullah, the regent, in Jeddah and briefed him on WAMY’s activities.
