JEDDAH, 9 July — Passengers traveling to certain southern Indian destinations now have an attractive summer break from Singapore Airlines. Called “Singapore swapnam” (Singapore dream), a person paying SR2,999 can have a return economy class Jeddah-Singapore-Trivandrum/Cochin or Madras air ticket; two nights hotel accommodation in a first class hotel in Singapore; return airport and hotel transfers in Singapore on seat-in-coach basis; become eligible for membership to SIA frequent flyer program (Kris flyer); and 15,000 Kris flyer miles (promotional period up to March 31). What is more, these 15,000 earned Kris flyer miles can be redeemed for free air ticket, for example, for a Jeddah-Dubai-Jeddah travel any time in the next three years, according to Manjit Grewal SIA general manager for the Middle East covering Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Syria Jordan, Yemen and Iraq. Offers also include free ride on hop-on, hop-off trolley bus service and discount for entry to tourist sites in Singapore, he said, adding that the SR2,999 price offer, valid up to July 31, excludes taxes and insurance surcharges. Grewal, who assumed charge recently, told Arab News that Saudis could obtain entry visa for the island state within three days of application at the consular section in Riyadh or Jeddah. SIA also offers “Thai memories” for $999, Eastern summer specials (Dubai-Singapore-Kuala Lumpur-Penang for 12 nights) for SR4,444 and a summer special to Australia for SR4,631. It has a “Bakasyon grande” offer aimed at Filipinos, which is valid up to March 31, and an “Explore Australia” offer for 15 days/14 nights for SR7,499. (K.S. Ramkumar)
