RIYADH, 21 May — Three killers of a Saudi diplomat in Kazakhstan have been arrested in the Central Asian republic, informed sources told Arab News. The assassins — two Russians and a Chechen — confessed to the killing in 1997 of Saudi diplomat Ahmad Auda Al-Saawi and would go on trial soon, a Foreign Ministry official in Riyadh said. The official praised the “positive cooperation” of the Kazakh government leading to the arrests and added that the ministry would follow the trial. Al-Saawi’s body was found with 13 knife wounds in his Almaty flat on Dec. 11, 1997.
