RIYADH — The RTTL Spring Season 2002 successfully concluded here recently with 24 participating teams divided into six divisions. This great tennis event is running continuously from 1976 for 26 years, two seasons every year (Spring and Fall).
Following are the results:
King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Center (KFSH&RC) won the championship of Division One, they won all their 6 matches gaining 12 leagues points. The runners-up team combination of King Abdulaziz Medical City and Vinnel Arabia came second by 8 league points. The Special Awards title for Division One: Best Male Player, Efren Veradio (KFSH&RC), Best Female Player, Helen Simolde (KFSH&RC). For Best Sportsmanship: Male, Arnold Lood (Yamama Compound) and Female, Emmie Rodriguez (KAMC/VIA). The Most Organized Team went to KFSH&RC.
The Arab National Bank/Al Rumaih Team won the Championship of Division Two, they got 11 league points from 5 wins and one tie match. King Abdulaziz Medical City Club 1 in the second place as runner up by seven league points. The Special Awards for this division are as follows: The Best Player: Male, Jude Camara (KAMCTC 1), Female, Janet Pacleb (ANB/RMH). The Best Sportsmanship: Male, Pete Petersen (KAMCTC1), Female, Anne Maihle (Cordoba Compound). The Most Organized Team went to Cordoba Compound.
Division Three had a very tough competition between three teams in the last round match (NR vs KAMCTC2) was a decisive game. Net Ralliers won the championship by 10 league points, Vinnel Arabia came 2nd as runner-up by 8 league points KAMCTC2 stayed by only 6 league points in the 3rd place.
The Special Awards for this division are as follows: Best Player: Male, George Talatala (NR), Female, Cathy Malayas (Vinnell). Best Sportsmanship: Male, Omar Al Swaidan (KFSH/B&F), Female, Marinel Marquez (KAMCTC2). The Most Organized Team KAMCTC2.
Same thing happen in Division Four the last round matches for Division Four decided the champion. Mother won the championships by 7 league points and Group of New Breed Team as runner-up with 6 league points. The Special Awards are as follows: Best Player: Male, Paul Pagulayan (GNB), Female, Letty Basco (KAMCTC3). Best Sportsmanship: Male, Lito Ramirez (SFH), Female, Mae Dujale (GNB). Mother won the trophy of the Most Organized Team.
Division Five the competition was between KAMCTC4, Grafiks International and Hot Shots Team. The championship went to KAMCTC4 by 7 league points and runner-up Grafiks International by 6 league points.
Special Awards are as follows: Best Player: Male, Ricky Banal (Hot Shots), Female, Virgie Augis (KAMCTC4). The Best Sportsmanship: Male, Ramon Santiago (Grafiks), Female, Joyce Valdez (Grafiks Intl). The Hot Shots Team won the Most Organized team trophy.
Division Six of the beginners players KAMCTC5 won the championship by 12 league points from straight 6 wins followed by SAMBA Team as runner up by 5 league points. Special Awards are as follows: Best Player: Male, Rey Lamban (SAMBA), Female, Rain Mendoza (KAMCTC5). The Best Sportsmanship: Male, Gerry Toledo, Female, Pia Bulanhagi (KAMCTC5). The SAMBA Team won the Most Organized Team trophy.
This season Sport Ghornatah and Coca-Cola are sponsoring the event. There was great awarding ceremony to be held at Najd Compound yesterday. The organizing committee consists of: Chairman, Farouk El-Laithy, Vice-Chairperson, Marinel Marquez, Vice-Chairman, Larry Bustamante, Committee Members: Manny Lector, Hermie Jimenez and Mario Flores.
