RIYADH, 17 April — Labor and Social Affairs Minister Dr. Ali Al-Namlah yesterday endorsed executive bylaws for labor committees, which will be established at companies employing 100 or more Saudis.
“The aim of these committees is to create means for dialogue between the employers and the employees in order to improve the work atmosphere and overcome technical and material obstacles,” Ahmad Al-Mansour, deputy minister for labor affairs, said.
He said the plan to establish labor committees reflected the Kingdom’s commitment to international labor regulations, which insist on the need for such bodies for consultation between companies and their workers.
Mansour added that the committee members will represent the Kingdom at international labor organizations.
However, he pointed out that the ministry will nominate such representatives in consultation with committees having the largest number of workers.
Mansour said the consultative council for labor will comprise representatives from the ministries of labor and interior, the Manpower Council, chambers of commerce and industry and labor committees.
