King Fahd and Abdullah greet leaders

RIYADH, 16 November — Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd and Crown Prince Abdullah, deputy premier and commander of the National Guard, have greeted the people on the advent of the holy month of Ramadan, beginning today. In a joint statement on this occasion, the king and the crown prince underscored the Kingdom’s commitment to Islam.

They said the Kingdom achieved comprehensive security because of its adherence to Islamic Shariah law.

King Fahd and Crown Prince Abdullah, also sent cables of greetings on this occasion to leaders of the Arab and Muslim countries including President Hosni Mubarak of Egypt, King Abdallah of Jordan, Sheikh Zayed ibn Sultan Al-Nahayan, president of the United Arab Emirates, President Megawati Sukarnoputri of Indonesia, President Muhammad Khatami of Iran, President Pervez Musharraf of Pakistan, Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, President Bashar Assad of Syria, President Islam Karimov of Uzbekistan, President Badruddoza Chowdhury of Bangladesh, President Abdelaziz Bouteflika of Algeria, President Omar Bashir of Sudan, Emir of Bahrain Sheikh Hamad ibn Isa Al-Khalifa, Sultan Qaboos of Oman, President Ali Abdullah Saleh of Yemen and President Yasser Arafat of Palestine.

The king and the crown prince wished good health and prosperity to all Muslims on the occasion. (SPA)
