Filipino couple jailed for prostitution

JOUF, 1 September — A summary court in the Jouf region sentenced a male Filipino nurse and his wife, a female fashion designer, to three months in jail and 90 lashes for their involvement in prostitution. The two expatriates will be deported after the completion of their jail terms. Police arrested the two Filipinos, named as Robin and Nora, after receiving a tip-off from the Saudi owner of the building where they were living. Dr. Aqeel Al-Ghamdi, director of health in the region, told Arab News that the Filipino nurse will be blacklisted in accordance with the Health Ministry’s regulations.
