RIYADH: The National Center for Human Resources Development (Takamul), an affiliate of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTH), has organized a 14-day training program on tour guiding in Riyadh from April 20 until May 2.

Nasser bin Abdul-Aziz Al-Nashmi, director general of Takamul, said the program was designed in cooperation with the World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations, and in coordination with the Saudi Tour Guides Association.

The program is primarily designed to increase the number of internationally accredited Saudi tour guides, he added.

It covers both theoretical and practical aspects, and heritage places — such as Al-Bujairi district in Ad Diriyah and the National Museum — are visited to apply practical training skills, he said. For the first time, female trainees are being licensed in the field.

A report has revealed that since its launch 474 female students benefitted from the “Your Job ... Your Scholarship” program, and that 9,631 had taken part in training.
