JEDDAH: An American trainer working with Saudi Arabia’s National Guard was killed on Thursday in a helicopter crash in Riyadh in the course of a routine activity, the National Guard Ministry said.
A Saudi trainee pilot was injured in the crash at Khashm Al-An Airport, which involved a Boeing AH-6i light helicopter gunship.
The flight instructor was named as Paul Reedy and the trainee pilot as Lt. Hisham bin Abdul Aziz Al-Asheikh, who was taken to the National Guard hospital in King Abdul Aziz Medical City. His condition is stable.
“Investigation committees are still completing their procedures to find out the causes of the accident,” the ministry said.
