Saudi Arabia’s Interior Minister Prince Abdul Aziz bin Saud bin Naif met Moroccan Interior Minister Abdulwafi Leftit on Friday in Jeddah.
During the meeting, ways of enhancing the current joint cooperation between the two ministries as well as the latest developments in the international arena were discussed.
Later at King Abdul Aziz International Airport, Leftit was seen off by Nasser bin Abdul Aziz Al-Daoud, undersecretary at the Ministry of Interior, and Mustafa Al-Mansouri, the Moroccan ambassador to Saudi Arabia.
Last month, King Salman and Morocco’s King Mohammed VI spoke to emphasize the need to unite their positions and coordinate efforts to counter the interventionist tendency of the Iranian regime.
King Salman called the Moroccan king and confirmed that Saudi Arabia stands with Morocco “against what could jeopardize its security, stability and territorial integrity.”
Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Bahrain have expressed their support to Morocco’s move to sever its ties with Iran, whom the Gulf allies have accused of causing chaos and instability in the region by arming militias such as the Houthis in Yemen and Hezbollah in Lebanon.
The Saudi Cabinet also renewed its call to support Morocco in all possible ways to protect its security and stability.
