CAIRO: Egypt’s parliamentary speaker Ali Abdel Aal has criticized an MP for dressing up in a causal outfit during Tuesday’s general session.
During his speech, the speaker of the House of Representatives discussed the garbage and waste recycling crisis in the attendance of the country’s environment minister, local reports have said.
As he went on, Abdel Aal criticized the member of parliament Hosam Al-Refaie for attending the session in casual clothes.
The speaker said: “This council has parliamentary traditions, it is forbidden to wear a shirt and trousers while attending, I will not allow this council to turn into a football stadium.”
He said the official outfit for the council sessions should be a suit, a galabiya or traditional wear from a parliamentarian’s place of origin.
