Russian police prepare for pitch fever, violence ahead of World Cup

MOSCOW: Russian riot police organized special training for crowd control Friday, ahead of Fifa 2018 world cup due to to be held in Russia from June 14 to July 15, 2018. The police units staged mock fights between football supporters as well as scenarios of dealing with violent football supporters. The security exercise held in Saint-Petersburg, is one of many to be held in Russian cities in the run up to the competition in June. Russian authorities have already asked a number of national police authorities to help securing one of the most popular tournaments in the world.
