DUBAI: The Yemeni army inflicted heavy casualties on Iran-backed Houthis during clashes on the eastern front of the central city of Taiz on Sunday, Saudi state-run channel Al-Ekhbariya reported.
According to local media, the spokesman for the Yemeni armed forces quoted a source on the ground as saying that fierce battles took place between the army and Houthi fighters in the neighborhood of Al-Tashreefat and around the Mohammad Ali Osman school.
The clashes spread to the eastern periphery of a group of villages where Yemeni army artillery hit several Houthi positions and destroyed a tank and a BMP anti-infantry vehicle.
