NEW YORK: Actress Lindsay Lohan plans to shoot a film in Saudi Arabia with an all-female cast, as well as “design” an island in Dubai.
The actress — famed for roles in Hollywood films ‘Mean Girls’ and ‘The Parent Trap’ — announced the developments on US talk show ‘The Wendy Williams Show’ on Friday in New York. Lohan said the movie will be called ‘Frame’ and will follow the story of an American photographer who leaves her husband in the US to move to Riyadh.
“She starts to understand the culture … and she starts to understand the women there… fencing, that’s a big thing for the women there, so there’s a lot of fencing courses and horse-back riding, and they take her in to (help her) understand why they cover (up),” Lohan said of the lead character.
The actress, who lives part-time in Dubai and also owns a nightclub in Greece, did not reveal any other details about the film production, or when filming is expected to begin.
In December, Lohan tweeted an article about reforms in Saudi Arabia, which read: “Please support this incredible #movement … I look forward to being a part of this with the movie #FRAMETHEMOVIE.”

Lohan also revealed to Wendy Williams that she’s in discussions to “design” one of The World islands in Dubai. The American actress added that the island will be called Lohan Island, joking that she is using her name more than US president Donald Trump: “I’m out-trumping Trump with the name Lohan!” she said.
Fans of ‘The Wendy Williams Show’ commented on the show’s YouTube channel about Lohan moving on from her troubled past, which includes jail-time in California. xBroken_Truths wrote: “I think moving to Dubai was the best decision for her. She has so many projects and she’s proving that you can be a better person after an addiction.”
Another fan, Megan R, posted: “She’s finally maturing. It’s good that Dubai helps her with her sobriety.”
