Sri Lankan Muslim cultural program to be held on Friday

RIYADH: Arrangements are being made to hold a Sri Lankan Muslim cultural program for more than 1,000 community members at the King Fahd Cultural Center on Friday. 
The event is organized by a group comprising 15 Sri Lankan Muslim organizations under the umbrella of the Sri Lankan Embassy, headed by Ambassador Azmi Thassim. 
Thareek Thameem, one of the members of the organizing committee, said the program is open to all Sri Lankans irrespective of their faiths. 
The event which will start at 4:30 p.m., will include a variety show, a book stall, game zone, a blood donation corner, and a documentary film on Sri Lanka to highlight tourism. 
He said the idea of the program is not only to provide entertainment to the members of the community, but also to create an awareness of Muslims and their culture among the islanders.
Arrangements, he said, have been made to cater to all age groups of Sri Lankans and families, who are most welcome to participate in the event.
“We have made arrangements to provide refreshments and dinner for all visitors at the end of the show,” Thameem said. 
Thassim told Arab News that this is the first time such an event has been organized by the Muslim community.
The event is part of the cultural activities of the mission and other communities, who regularly organize similar events. Such events, he said, promote intercommunal amity among Sri Lankans living in the Kingdom.
