Courts in the Kingdom have so far received 199 cases of disobedience filed by fathers against their sons and 37 hindrance cases submitted by sons against their fathers since the beginning of the current year, local media reported.
Hindrance cases are primarily meant to ban men from using their children’s money or property irrationally due to age, health or cognitive factors.
About 40 percent of disobedience cases were registered in Makkah and Riyadh regions. Forty of the cases were reported in Makkah and 38 in Riyadh, a local daily said.
The number of disobedience cases varied in other regions.
Asir registered 34 cases, Jazan 31, the Eastern Province 21, Najran 10, Baha seven, Madinah, Qasim and Tabuk four each, the Northern Border three cases, Hail two, and Jouf one case, the paper said.
The Riyadh region accounted for 40 percent of hindrance cases Kingdom-wide, with 51 cases, followed by Makkah with eight cases, the Eastern Province with seven cases, Tabuk two cases and Madinah, Qasim, Asir, and Najran one case each, the paper said.
