An eight-member medical team from King Fahd Central Hospital in Jazan has successfully removed a 15-kg tumor from a Saudi woman, local media said.
Prior to the application of the procedure, the woman, in her thirties, had undergone extensive testing, which showed that there was a 30-cm diameter tumor in the abdomen and pelvis area, said Abdulilah Mazkour, head of the obstetrics and gynecology unit at the hospital.
A sample was taken from the tumor by using TV rays, which clearly indicated benign uterine fibroids. The fibroids were successfully removed without the need for a blood transfusion. She is now in good health and is undergoing medical treatment, he said.
