The Cabinet on Monday passed a new law allowing the interior minister to announce the names of prisoners and detainees involved in crimes related to national security, Health Minister and Acting Information Minister Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah said on Monday.
“The Cabinet approved the amendment of Article 4 of the Prison and Detention Law, authorizing the interior minister to disclose the names of prisoners and detainees involved in crimes affecting national security,” Al-Rabeeah said quoting the Cabinet decision.
The disclosure of names was allowed to protect public and private interests, he said, adding that it would be determined by the law’s executive regulations.
The Cabinet, which was chaired by Second Deputy Premier Prince Muqrin, praised the holding of the Day of Solidarity with the Syrian children ordered by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah on Tuesday.
The Cabinet commended the results of the visits of Crown Prince Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense to Pakistan and Japan, including his meetings with officials and the signing of agreements in various fields.
Prince Muqrin briefed the Cabinet on his talks with Prince Charles of Wales while commending the close relationship between Saudi Arabia and the UK.
The Cabinet highlighted Saudi Arabia’s attractive economic environment, various investment projects, and its continuing economic growth, and referred to the various economic activities that took place in the Kingdom last week, as well as the ‘Invest in Saudi Arabia’ exhibition that was held in Tokyo.
The Cabinet welcomed the unanimous UN Security Council resolution demanding the lifting of the siege on Syrian cities, halting the attacks and raids on civilians and facilitating the entry of humanitarian convoys. It hoped this decision would contribute to alleviating the tragedy of the Syrian people and strengthening the country’s security and stability. It reiterated the Kingdom’s condemnation of the two terrorist bombings in Beirut.
Al-Rabeeah said the Cabinet decided to establish a training center for the Justice Ministry to train judges, notaries, clerks and other assistants and agents of the judges in the public and administrative courts.
The Cabinet appointed Abdul Mohsen Al-Shamikh administrative adviser at the Defense Ministry; Ibrahim Aburas, mayor of Hail; Ibrahim Al-Husseini, director general of expenditures at the Finance Ministry; Saeed Al-Jomaie, minister plenipotentiary at the Foreign Ministry; Mousa Al-Shamrani, deputy director general of water in the Makkah region; and Mohammed bin Saleh assistant undersecretary for planning at the Ministry of Culture and Information.
