A factory in Dammam’s 2nd Industrial City was gutted in a massive fire that broke out in the premises Thursday morning.
A fire-fighter also sustained second degree burn injuries while trying to put out the fire.
Speaking to Arab News, Col. Ali Al-Qahtani, Eastern Province Civil Defense spokesman, said: “The control unit received a call reporting a large fire at the BICF Factory in the 2nd Industrial City at 4:26 a.m.”
He said the factory is spread over an area of 15,000 sq. meters. The factory had petrochemical substances for manufacturing industrial floors.
“The entire factory was gutted in the fire,” Al-Qahtani said, adding that 14 fire-fighting units were involved in putting out the blaze. “Investigations into the cause of fire are still under way,” he added.
