Several top Saudi and Arab artists will have their creations up for sale at an auction in Jeddah on Dec. 5.
This will be the second auction organized by Arabian Wings, the fine art company and gallery, in cooperation with Fitaihi Group. Sheikh Ahmed Hasan Fitaihi has been a pioneer in the auction world for over four decades. Arabian Wings held its first auction in December 2011.
A total of 72 contemporary artworks by various well-known Saudi and Arab artists will be up for sale. The pieces include Khaled bin Afif’s work entitled “Not for Sale.”
There will also be drawings, photographs, bronze sculptures and signed prints from established artists including Wajih Nahle, Saud Mahjoub, Bakr Shaykhun, Ahmed Keshta, Hassan Meer, Fatma Lootah, May Al-Saad and Mohammed Abu Al-Naga. The prices range from $1,000 to $30,000.
Mohammed Bahrawi, the chairman of Arabian Wings, said: “This auction will allow artists an opportunity to expose their artwork, and for art lovers to buy quality pieces at reasonable prices.”
Bahrawi said the company turned to Fitaihi because he has considerable expertise in managing such projects. He said the event would help to promote Saudi art further in the city.
Preview sessions have been scheduled at one of the oldest art galleries in Jeddah, Rochan Gallery, from Dec. 1 to 4.
