A 10-member Pakistani parliamentary delegation led by Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, speaker of the Pakistan National Assembly, met with Abdullah Al-Asheikh, president of the Shoura Council on Sunday.
Mohammed Naeem Khan, ambassador of Pakistan, and Khayam Akbar, deputy head of the mission, accompanied the Pakistani delegation. Mohammed Ameen Jefri, vice preisdent of the Shoura Council, was also present during the meeting.
Al-Asheikh welcomed his Pakistani counterpart and emphasized that the Saudi and Pakistani parliamentarians should work closely and cooperate with one another.
The two sides discussed matters pertaining to bilateral relations, with focus on enhancing cooperation between the two legislative bodies and interaction between the parliamentarians.
The officials agreed that Pakistani and Saudi parliamentarians could learn from each other’s experiences and that closer cooperation and greater parliamentary interaction was needed.
Sadiq thanked Al-Asheikh for the kind sentiment he expressed toward Pakistan and the Pakistani people. He also extended his appreciation for the hospitality extended to the delegation during their visit to the Kingdom.
He said that both Pakistan and Saudi Arabia enjoy close fraternal relations.
He reiterated the fact that both countries have always stood by each other in testing times. Close and frequent contacts at the highest level have been the hallmark of these relations, he said.
The National Assembly speaker expressed gratitude for Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah’s personal commitment and interest in promoting the fraternal relations between the two nations and the welfare of the Pakistani community.
