Around 300 illegal expats from Afghanistan gathered in front of their consulate in Jeddah on Saturday morning demanding the completion of their procedures to leave the Kingdom.
Arab News tried to call the consul general of Afghanistan to inquire about the reasons behind the delay. He did not respond.
Later, police moved in and took the illegal Afghans to deportation centers.
Nowaf Al-Bouq, Jeddah police spokesman, told Arab News: “We have transferred all illegal Afghans by bus.”
“Jeddah police will coordinate with the Consulate General of Afghanistan to expedite travel procedures for the detained,” he said.
