Sixty-four runners completed the 10 mile course at the last Riyadh Road Runners Race recently, with another 46 running one 5 mile lap of the course.
The event, which was sponsored by Carrefour Le Mall, was over a course that consisted of two laps of the farm, with a long, gruelling hill taking up a large part of each lap.
Gerd Muetze led the race again in this event, crossing the line with an impressive time of 1:09. Russ Macarthur took second place again with 1:10, making him first in the veteran category.
Alberto Reguero took second category in the open category (1:12) with Alfonso Orona crossing the line two minutes later (1:14), making him forth overall, and third in the open division.
It was Chris Pullar who came in second in the veteran category (age 40-49), with a time of 1:18, followed by Gerhard Kick, who completed the course in 1:23. Ian Sutherland took first in the Master category (age 50-59) crossing the line at 1:27. Master runner William Burgess came in second with 1:28.
Of the 11 female runners who completed the 10 mile distance, it was the veteran runners who stole the show in this race. Kerstin Kick took first place for the second time this season, completing the course with a very impressive 1:23. She was followed by Claudine Roghi (1:24) and Marie-Pierre Arminjon (1:29) also running in the veteran category.
The next race will be step down, in terms of distance, with a 5 mile course on Friday. This will be followed by a second 10 mile race, on Nov. 22. See the website for more information: www.riyadhroadrunners.com for more information.
