The silence of the world community over the ongoing killings of Syrians is condemnable. Action against chemical weapons alone cannot solve the crisis. The biggest problem in Syria is Assad himself. He and his cronies should be removed from power. That is the only solution. As long as Assad remains in power, the situation will never return to normal. He will use every dirty trick in the book to stay in power.
Why are we waiting for the US to take any action? The United Nations should move ahead from its comfort zone and take some action. Paying lip service would not help. The UN should keep in mind the plight of the Syrians who have been forced to leave their homes and to seek refuge in other countries. — Iman Malik, Jubail
