A Syrian national was executed Friday after he was convicted of smuggling drugs, the Interior Ministry said.
Ahmed Al-Onayzi was found guilty of trafficking “a large amount of banned capsules,” the ministry said in a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency.
His execution in Tabuk brought to 62 the number of people executed in the Kingdom this year. In 2012, Saudi Arabia executed 76 people, according to a tally based on official figures.
