Regional governors will be given greater power while regional councils will be activated to accelerate the Kingdom’s development, said Crown Prince Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense.
Speaking to reporters after attending a sahoor party organized by businessman Saleh Kamil at his house on Sunday night, Prince Salman also emphasized the need to develop the performance of government departments in the regions.
“This is essential for the balanced development of all regions in the Kingdom,” the crown prince said. He urged regional governors to facilitate the needs of citizens and provide them with necessary services.
Meanwhile, Interior Minister Prince Muhammad bin Naif chaired a meeting of regional governors in Jeddah on Sunday night and urged them to make use of modern technology to interact with citizens.
The meeting focused on strengthening security and boosting regional development. It stressed the need to implement rules and regulations to deepen the principles of equality and justice.
Prince Muhammad briefed the governors on the King Abdullah project to develop security headquarters as well as future development plans of his ministry.
The meeting adopted a number of important resolutions, which have been presented to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah in the form of a comprehensive report, an official source said.
