The Jeddah-based Khak-e-Taiba Trust (KTT) honored visiting Indian leader and member of the Congress Party Mohammed Khaleequr Rahman at its headquarters recently.
Rahman, who was on a month-long tour to the Kingdom, emphasized the need to build a knowledge-based institutional empire to serve the community at large.
“KTT is not new to me, I have been associated with it for a long time. I know its activities, and I consider the trust as the best forum to impart quality education to the deprived section of the society,” he said.
Rahman, who is a member of AP Waqf Board Committee, assured support to KTT in all its efforts.
He lauded the efforts of the people who launched the Trust some two decades ago, and appreciated their work.
He said that Muslim parliamentarians should work together to raise minority issues at the top legislative body. He added that efforts are underway to create a secretariat for all Muslim parliamentarians at Delhi, to chalk-out a common strategy to resolve the minorities’ issues amicably.
KTT President Aijaz Ahmed Khan thanked Rahman for his support to educational causes.
Shameem Kausar, patron and overseas trustee of KTT, requested Rahman in his capacity to make available land in the city center to build an independent educational institution.
Earlier, a PowerPoint slideshow was presented by the forum’s youth wing member Azmat Ali Emran illustrating the various ongoing projects of KTT in India as well as Jeddah.
Syed Khaja Viqaruddin, general secretary, thanked the gathering and presented a memento to Rahman on behalf of the managing committee.
