Ahmed Deedat’s biography out

A biography of the late Ahmed Deedat, a renowned Islamic scholar who had successfully engaged leading Christian evangelists in public debates, has been published by the Islamic Propagation Center International in Durban, South Africa.
Copies of the biography were recently presented to Ahmed Tiktik, vice president of Islamic Development Bank; Awadh Salem Al-Asaime, director of Special Assistance Department; and Essam Fadel Al-Shanqiti, manager of the division for special assistance projects; by Hafez Shabir Basha, manager of IPCI, which was founded by Deedat in 1957. Basha was accompanied by Mahomed Khan, its liaison officer.
During his visit to the IDB, Basha gave a presentation on the great contributions made by Deedat and IPCI toward spreading the message of Islam. The Special Assistance Department organized the event.
“The biography contains the story of how Sheikh Deedat, the son of a struggling Indian tailor in KwaZulu-Natal, progressed from a salesperson in a remote rural grocery shop to become a renowned Islamic propagator,” said Al-Asaime in a statement. In the 1980s, thousands would cram into lecture halls across the United States, Europe, Australasia and the Middle East to listen to Deedat, he said.
Always eager to challenge and debate, Deedat confronted leading evangelical Christians on their interpretations of biblical teachings. Hundreds and thousands of his pamphlets, books, videos and audio recordings have circulated globally, said Al-Shanqiti.
“The presentation gave an opportunity for many of us to remember that great personality who had done a wonderful job in taking the message of Islam to millions of people around the world,” Ibrahim Mohammed Masood said.
