ABU DHABI: The United Arab Emirates criticized a Pakistani decision not to send troops to join Operation Decisive Storm against Houthi militia, Al Arabiya reported.
Anwar Gargash, the UAE’s minister of state for foreign affairs, lashed out at Pakistan’s vote on his Twitter account accusing it of choosing Iran over the Gulf nations at a time when they face an “existential confrontation” in the Yemen conflict.
Tehran seems to be more important to Islamabad and Ankara than the Gulf countries, said Gargash in one of his tweets.
“Though our economic and investment assets are inevitable, political support is missing at critical moments,” he wrote in reference to the Gulf’s economic and investment help to the South Asian nation.
The Pakistani Parliament’s resolution, which promoted neutrality on the Yemeni conflict, and voiced support for the collation is “contradictory and dangerous and unexpected from Islamabad,” said Gargash. Pakistan’s Parliament voted unanimously on Friday not to join the air campaign targeting rebels in Yemen, offering instead to mediate a solution.
