RIYADH: The Interior Ministry has warned Saudi citizens against traveling to Ethiopia. The warning was based on a cable issued by the Saudi Embassy in Addis Ababa due to the current conditions prevailing in Ethiopia, the Saudi Press Agency said in a report yesterday.
“The warning was also given in the light of the current internal tension, clashes that occur from time to time between members of the federal police and Muslims and arrests made by police every day,” the report said.
The ministry also pointed out that some Saudi citizens, who were in the country to distribute aid, were among the arrested.
The warning will be in effect until things calm down, the ministry said, adding that it was given because of the government’s concern toward its citizens’ security and safety.
The Saudi government had earlier issued a similar warning to citizens against traveling to Lebanon, citing concerns over security in a country shaken by the uprising in Syria.
