The Ministry of Education plans to celebrate World Teacher's Day under the aegis of Education Minister Prince Faisal bin Abdullah at the King Fahd Cultural Center in Riyadh on Saturday.
This coincides with the international celebration of teacher’s day on Oct. 5 of every year as implemented by the UNESCO since 1994.
“Over the past few years, the Kingdom’s teacher's day celebrations were successful in highlighting various aspects of the outstanding achievements of teachers including women in the field of education,” a statement of the ministry said yesterday.
The ministry also hoped that through its active participation in this international event it will strengthen the pioneering role of teachers in educational activities. It also shows the ministry’s keenness to strive for the improvement of the teaching profession and offer assistance to teachers in carrying out their duties. The ministry will review the incentives given to teachers, the statement said.
The ministry has approved a number of programs to improve teachers’ work environment, including their staff rooms, transportation, their rights and duties and organizing meetings with officials. The programs also include organizing a teachers’ inventiveness exhibition and implementing better training opportunities which include sending them on foreign study scholarships.
