A Filipino maid who works in the Kingdom has uploaded a video explaining the story of her suffering in the country. The video, published onto a social media page, has so far got more than half a million views.
Sobbing and trembling in the clip, the woman talks about the deterioration of her health and her desire to return home.
According to the website, “Trending News Portal,” Sarrah Grace Suriaga, a maid working for a Saudi family in the Eastern Province, has published a video clip on her own Facebook page, asking for help to return to the Philippines.
Sarrah appeared in the clip explaining in a feeble, low voice, that she has been vomiting constantly for six days and that she is no longer interested in eating.
She further elaborated on her fraying health, saying that her employer refused to provide any medical help for her when her body showed signs of the disease, now causing her to feel that her body will collapse soon.
Sarrah added that her employer refused to allow her to leave the Kingdom and return to her country, keeping the contract to ensure that she is unable to leave the Kingdom without his permission.
She ended her video saying that she is trapped in her employer's house, and she hopes to return home. For his part, director of Public Relations and Social Affairs in Asir, Ali Al-Asmari, said that the committee that handles disputes between employers and employees could examine the case.
General Supervisor of the Human Rights Commission in Asir, Dr. Hadi Al-Yami, also pointed that the authorities sometimes spot such videos when they monitor the Internet.
Al-Yami claimed that his department is currently following up with the relevant authorities to check the video’s credibility, and take legal actions if needed.
