Border guards arrested two smugglers and seized weapons after a chase at the Southern Dhahran Sector in Asir region yesterday.
Colonel Abdullah bin Ahmed Al-Hamrani, Information Spokesman at the Border Guard Command in Asir Region said following the arrest, a sizeable cache of weapons was discovered including nine Kalashnikov machine guns, a rifle, 79 pistols and multiple rounds of ammunition.
Colonel Al-Hamrani said border guards at the Yemeni border also arrested three people trying to cross into Yemeni territory illegally. None of the three had identity papers. When searched, one admitted to carrying SR 85,000 in stolen money.
