JEDDAH, 16 May 2008 — The Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector (ICD) will organize a half-day seminar for knowledge sharing and information dissemination among IDB (Islamic Development Bank) member countries on the challenges and solutions for public-private participation (PPP) in the social sectors such as health, education and other fields. The seminar will be held June 1, in conjunction with the 33rd annual meeting of the IDB Board of Governors. The seminar, themed at “Public-Private Partnership in IDB Member Countries: A Special Focus on Social Sectors”, is part of ICD’s efforts to show how public and private sector can work closely together to make this partnership successful. The seminar will also be a venue for identifying and proposing practical solutions to promote public-private partnership in member countries, to provide an update on latest policy and financing development in the field and to focus on practical experience of PPP in a number of sectors in particular health and education in member countries. The event is expected to attract a large number of participants representing international and regional financial organizations, in addition to government delegates from member countries, civil societies, local bankers, projects sponsors and local authorities, according to Khaled Al-Aboodi, CEO and general manager of ICD. |
