JOUF, 18 March 2007 — A three-day first aid course for women teachers has been organized by Al-Jouf’s Health College for Girls in collaboration with the Educational Training Center of the region’s Directorate of Girls Education. Jamilah Al-Dandani, dean of the college, said the course aims to give teachers the basic training in how to deal in emergencies. The course includes training on how to deal with bone fractures, burns, fainting, epilepsy, heart attacks and other emergencies. Al-Dandani said about 80 teachers from the region’s schools will attend the course, which will be held by professional trainers and doctors from the Directorate of Education. “This course represents the first phase of training,” Al-Dandani said, adding that the other two phases would commence shortly after the first one ends. The dean added that such courses are important for women to be able to positively respond in an emergency at school or at home until professional help arrives. Al-Dandani said that the Red Crescent Association has also helped with the course by providing first aid booklets. |
